WARD SABHA / GRAMASABHA
👥 Gramasabha / Ward Sabha
A Gramasabha consists of all individuals whose names are included in the voter list of a village within the geographical area of a Grama Panchayat. A voter in a particular ward is a member of that ward's Gramasabha/Ward Sabha.
📌 Convenor
The Ward Members and Ward Councillors function as the Convenors of the Gramasabha and Ward Sabha, respectively. If necessary, another ward member can be appointed as the Convenor.
🎙️ Chairperson
The Grama Panchayat President presides over the Gramasabha, while the Municipal Chairperson presides over the Ward Sabha. In their absence, the Vice President, Deputy Chairperson, or Convenor will undertake the responsibility.
📅 Convening the Meeting
The responsibility to convene the meetings rests with the Ward Member, who is also the Convenor.
✅ Quorum
The quorum for the meeting is 10% of the total voters. If a meeting is postponed due to a lack of quorum, the quorum for the rescheduled meeting will be 50 members.
📝 Special Meeting
If 10% of the voters in a ward make a written request, a special Gramasabha/Ward Sabha must be convened within 15 days.
🤝 Coordinator
An official appointed by the Grama Panchayat/Municipality will act as the Coordinator to assist the Convenor.
❓ Questions and Suggestions
Members can submit their questions and suggestions in writing either before or during the meeting.
📜 Resolutions
Resolutions regarding subjects within the jurisdiction of the Gramasabha/Ward Sabha can be passed based on a majority vote.

🏗️ Project Planning and Implementation
- Collect data required for development projects.
- Prepare project proposals and determine priorities.
- Provide voluntary service and financial assistance.
💧 Public Amenity Projects
- Suggest locations for installing streetlights.
- Suggest locations for public water supply taps and wells.
- Provide recommendations for sanitation and irrigation projects.
🛠️ Public Works
- Know the estimation details of the works.
- Assist and monitor beneficiary committees.
